ABSTRACT

Optimal use of the laboratory in the practice of pediatric endocrinology begins with careful consideration of the patient's history and physical findings. After a review of the differential diagnosis, an orderly plan of laboratory investigation can be devised. This paper outlines some of the more common laboratory tests used to evaluate some common pediatric endocrine disorders. The intent is to provide a concise, logical approach to choose the most efficient approach.
